A Bible study on giving for Christian missions

giving for Christian missionsActs 20:35 exhorts us to give to please God, for our giving to be honored in heaven and to receive abundant blessings from God.

How do we give?

1. Our giving should be orderly and disciplined. 1 Corinthians 16:2 Paul instructs the church to give every first day of the week when the Church meets together.

2. We are to give according to the measure that God has given us. While this was requirement in the OT, the NT encourages us to give out of gratitude and not out of compulsion.

6 more benefits of being a blogging Preacher

For the past year and a half I have enjoyed reading a few blogs and even began toying with the thought of starting my own blog. Naturally, it raised some of the basic questions that most bloggers ask before they start their first blog, like: “How do I start a blog,” “What template should I use,” “What should I write,” “How often should I post” and the list goes on.

Reading Cory’s Blogging for Pastors 101 series was a tremendous blessing and he answered all of those questions plus many others.

I have been blogging regularly since January 2007, and I have since realized several benefits of being a Blogging Preacher.

The anointing of God

the anointing of God

Psalm 92:10 "I shall be anointed with fresh oil."

Read Luke 4:18-19; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; I John 2:27a (emphasize: Just as Christ was anointed; so are we anointed)

Introduction

The current revival that is sweeping the world speaks a great deal about "the anointing of God." The term raises several questions. In these next two messages I want to attempt to answer some of those questions:

I. WHAT IS "THE ANOINTING?"

A. Vines says that the term "anoint" means to "smear" ointment on something to ceremonially separate that person or object for a special purpose.

B. In the O.T. it is most often used for the setting apart of the Prophets and Kings (I Kings 19:16) "And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room." (Also priests: Exodus 28:41–Aaron)
