Romans 9 and Romans 11 formed a break in Paul’s letter to the Romans. In that passage, Paul’s focus was on salvation and the Jew. Paul wanted to show them that God was not neglecting them in this present age, but that they could be saved by calling on the name of the Lord. Now, Paul returns to the main idea of his letter. He has spent considerable time telling us how we are saved, what we are saved from and what salvation has done for us. In this last section of the book, Paul’s focus shifts to some very practical matters. He will discuss many aspects of everyday living in this world.

These first two verses of Romans 12, give us some insight into an area of our walk with God that we must never over look. These two verses tell us the secret of holy living. Paul tells us what God expects from us and how we are to achieve His goals for our lives. He tells us that holy living revolves around our surrender to three powerful concerns. Let’s see just what they are and what they demand as we consider the thought: Our spiritual act of worship. Click here to read the rest of, Bible study: Our Spiritual act of Worship – Romans 12:1-2

A Preacher’s voice against abortion

A Preacher’s voice against abortion

I think abortion is one of the most controversial issues debated over by everyone in the world toady. There are many views regarding this matter but let us take a biblical view, as Bible is our measuring rod. According to Wikipedia an abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. The spontaneous expulsion of a fetus or embryo before the 20th week of gestational age is commonly known as a miscarriage. Induced abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus by medical, surgical, or other means at any point during human pregnancy for therapeutic or elective reasons. Text: Matthew 11:28-30

From heaven Jesus is offering us a tender invitation; but do we really understand and appreciate? We should ask the following question from ourselves

  1. To whom Jesus extends this invitation?
  2. What He offers to those who will accept it?
  3. What He expects from those who desire to respond?
  4. The true ease of accepting this invitation?

Let us consider these questions in today’s sermon.

The acts of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

I am sure many of us are not familiar with this topic. All of us are familiar with the work of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament but not his work in the Old Testament. Let us see how the Spirit of God was active in the Old Testament time?.

The Holy Spirit in creation

Genesis 1:2 says, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. “
Why is it said here “ the Spirit of God was hovering”? The earth was in a condition that no life could exist. Hovering means the Holy Spirit was preparing the earth before God would command life to origin. The Holy Spirit was moving upon the surface of water and releasing his power (Like a mother bird, hovering or fluttering over her young in a vibrant, protective way).
