My sincere apologies as I couldn’t update this blog on due time. I was down with an ear infection and feverish. I won’t be able to post any updates in the next 2 weeks either because I will be busy with studies. Nevertheless I wanted to leave something worthwhile for my loyal readers to experiment with until I return.
Ever since Ben Sinclair’s guest post “How your church can use the power of Facebook!” many pastors and church workers contacted me asking how to create a custom Facebook fan page for their own church or ministry. So far this was something only the developers were capable of doing and anyone who wanted an attractive custom Facebook fan page yet not tech savvy had to hire a professional. For many churches, ministries and non-profits this was out of reach because of the cost factor. However things changed very soon and today there are many WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) DIY (Do It Yourself) tools anyone can use to create a custom Facebook fan page. In today’s post I am going to introduce to you two of the most popular tools in the trade. Both are equipped with free editions and you don’t have to worry about the cost. Please make sure that you have at least a blank Facebook page before signing up to use any of these services.
Pagemodo
Pagemodo could be called the most popular service of its kind. The free edition of Pagemodo is limited in functions but serves the purpose. It allows only one tab per page hence it would be ideal to design a Welcome tab and set it as the default landing page for first time visitors. You can visit our Facebook page for a demo.

ShortStack
At the moment ShortStack could be the only service capable of competing with Pagemodo. ShortStack supports Fan only content (fan gating) and an unlimited number of pages per account in their free edition also. In Pagemodo these features require a paid account. One of the major disadvantages with ShortStack however is that you need a paid account once your fan base reaches 2000 fans. Visit ShortStack
