Scot Longyear the author of the book is a  teaching and worship pastor at Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute, Indiana.  He has written and recorded several albums and have led worship and taught in the US, Moscow, and Central America.  He has also served in Spain with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
