Introduction

How many of you here have been a participant in a divorce or you are the child of divorced parents? The sheer number of raised hands is all the justification that is needed for this sermon today. There is a grieving process that is, in many ways, worse than the death of a spouse because it goes on and on. Lest you think I am going to beat you over the head, rest easy. Before this sermon is ended, I plan to offer you a ray of hope out of your pit of despair.

The thief mentioned here refers to all the forces of darkness. They have only one purpose. To harm the human kind, the bearers of God’s image. How do they accomplish this goal?

Helpful tips for worship leaders

worship leading

I am not a recognized and a gifted worship leader but occasionally asked to lead the worship service in our church.  Good enough, every time I do I am able to lead people in to God’s presence.  The task of the worship leader is equally important as the task of the Preacher. Worship is one of the channels God use to connect with our spirit. So here are some basic tips to help you.

1.  Have a strong relationship with God

The worship leader can not have a double life. He is expected to set an example to others in his life style. He must have a strong relationship with God through prayer and should read the Bible in a regular basis. Worship should be a part of his daily life.

2. Know your congregation

You must know your congregation inside out. If you are ministering to an urban congregation – your leading style, the kind of music must fit the urban culture. For example I had to switch from a more westernized style into an eastern approach as I am working in a church where the members are more familiar with eastern music.

3. Pay attention to your dress code and physical appearance

Always dress modestly. Ladies must avoid too much of makeup. Smile with the congregation.

4. Get the best out of media

If your church has an Over head projector or an LCD projector use it to display the lyrics of hymns in your list. If you have nothing at least give them a printed hymn sheet.
