He is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, (1 Corinthians 1:30, NET)

Introduction

This is the only text that in four consecutive leading words presents the complete view of Christ’s redemptive work. Let us see.

I. Wisdom

A. By correcting our errors of opinion and practice, (Proverbs 4:11)

B. By confirming what is right and good, (Proverbs 2:9-10)

C. By revealing what has up to now been unknown, (Romans 16:25; Galatians 1:11-12)

II. Righteousness

A. By His own perfect obedience to the Law, (Romans 5:19)

B. By His vicarious and justifying death for sin, (1 Peter 3:18)

C. By His intercession at God’s right hand, (Romans 8:34)

III. Sanctification

A. By His perfect example of holiness, (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15)

B. By His regeneration, imparting the new nature, (2 Corinthians 5:17)

C. By the gift of the indwelling Spirit of Holiness, (John 16:13)

IV. Redemption

A. By resurrection of the body: redemption of the body, (Romans 8:23)

B. By final and full deliverance from sin; redemption of the Spirit, (1 Peter 1:23-25)

C. By ushering us, body and spirit, into the heavenly home.

Conclusion

The redemption Jesus provides is not applicable only to a one area of human needs (such as healing.) But this redemption deals with every major and minor area like I explained in this sermon.
