Hebrews 11:6 – Without faith it is impossible to please God…

Introduction

Faith!!! What a subject! God’s word speaks about faith over and over again. Both in the Old Testament and New Testament. When Christians get together they speak about faith. Preachers, revivalists preach about faith.

Faith is important to every individual. Why is it so important? Let me give you 5 reasons.

i. It is the basis for salvation, (Romans 10:17)

A. In faith we believe that Jesus died to earn us our salvation

B. We are not justified by deeds, but through faith (Genesis 15:16, John 3:36)

C. What does justification mean?

a. Forgiveness of sins and gift of righteousness

b. Once we are forgiven we are not guilty anymore

c. God also accepts that we are righteous

ii. It is the basis for relationship with God, (Hebrews 11:6)

A. Everyone who comes to God must believe his existence

B. Everyone who believe will be rewarded

C. By faith we obey God so that he will be pleased

iii. By faith our hope is sustained, (Hebrews 11:1-3)

A. It is the guarantee of our hope

B. It is the guarantee for what we do not see. For,

a. None of us have seen the creator God

b. None of us have seen Jesus’ death and his resurrection

c. But we believe in faith that our hope is preserved by Jesus

iv. It is the key to answered prayer, (James 1:5-6)

A. Doubting prayers are not pleasant to God

B. Prayer of faith is a powerful weapon, (Matthew 17:20)

C. Divine healing requires faith, (Matthew 9:20-22, 9:27-30 )

v. It is the key to experience God’s power, (Mark 16:17)

A. Demons will flee before those who believe

B. They will speak in new tongues

C. They will pick up snakes with their hands

D. Deadly poison will not harm them

E. People will be healed

vi. Conclusion

  • Now you have learned the importance of faith. Therefore you must ask yourself ‘What am I supposed to do?’
  • Let the word you heard right now to generate faith in your heart, (Romans 10:17)
  • Faith without deeds is dead, (James 2:17). Therefore put your faith in to practice.
  • We are called to obey God in faith, (Hebrews 11:4-31). Then obey to his voice without doubting.
  • What ever you ask from God in faith, believe that you have received it, (Matthew 11:24)
