Text: Matthew 28:16-20
The great commission is important because,
1. Jesus has authority in heaven and earth. Therefore,
a. We have received power to perform wonders, Mark 16:15-18
b. We have received power to forgive sins, John 20:21-23
2. Therefore we have been commanded to go and,
a. Make disciples of all nations by,
i. Bringing lost souls to Christ and let them accept Christ.
ii. Train them to hear, understand and obey Jesus’ teaching.
3. Baptize them to the name of the father, son and the Holy Spirit,
a. Water baptism: a sign of repentance (Matthew 3:11a) and new birth (Romans 6).
b. Not just a ritual, but a sign of commitment to Jesus.
c. When we preach the gospel we will see the results above.
4. Jesus has given us an eternal assurance
a. Not just a casual promise.
b. A promise given even before Jesus’ incarnation, (Isaiah 7:14; Emmanuel => God is with us).
5. Conclusion
a. Jesus wants you and me to finish what he started.
b. No excuses.
c. He has not asked us to do the impossible. But everything is possible by the power he has given us. You can fulfill the great commission at school, at work place and wherever you are. Remember, whether they heed or not you must tell, (Ezekiel 33:8).

Last year we gave over 10 billion dollars to the clergy and we don’t have one soul to show for it. I could send with this money 6 million missionaries to India and around the world for a year, so the clergy really are at fault.
Personal evangelism is really nothing more than an abusive slave labor system that seeks to put another load on the working man’s back and mercilessly force him to carry it for free. Personal evangelism is WORSE THAN SLAVERY: not even a slave pays his master. I can’t think of a single reason why anyone would want to become a Christian. All they do (the clergy) is take your money and give you more work to do.
I’m not going to witness, share my faith, knock on doors, pass out tracts, talk with my neighbors, or speak about Christ to my coworkers. I’m not going to do it; it’s OUT OF THE QUESTION. It’s just not going to happen. Let the clergy handle it; they are the ones who are getting paid. In the Bible, no work can be done without pay: Deut. 25:4; Matt. 10:10; Luke 10:7; 1 Cor. 9:7,9,14; 1 Tim. 5:18; 2 Tim. 2:6; and Prov. 14:23. I DON’T WORK FOR FREE, AND THE BIBLE SAYS I DON’T HAVE TO.
Please don’t suggest that personal evangelism is not really work, but just a pleasant way to pass the time; I’ve been there, done that. Witnessing was a horrible experience and I refuse to do it EVER AGAIN. Let the paid Christian handle it. Only paid Christians are required to go. Personally, I’d rather jump off the Cold Springs Canyon Bridge than witness.
