Introduction

Related Bible verses: Luke 23:32-43, Psalms 14:1

  • Bible tells us that two criminals were crucified with Jesus.
  • Probably they were rapists, rebellions, murderers or pirates.
  • One of them did not believe in Jesus.
  • The other believed that Jesus is God.
  • What can we learn from these two people?

1. If you don't believe you will loose everything

A. When you don't believe you act out of pride.

B. The first criminal spoke abusively and boastfully.

C. He had the opportunity of a life time of being close to Jesus.

D. He missed the final opportunity to save his life.

E. The fool says in his heart 'God does not exist'. (Psalms 14:1)

F. What am I supposed to do then?

2. If you believe you will receive everything

A. The second criminal believed in Jesus.

B. He used the opportunity to do two things.

C. He submitted unto authority of Jesus.

D. He confessed and repented of his sin.

E. He was rewarded with eternal freedom and life.

3. Conclusion and application

  • Both men shared a common identity as criminals.
  • But their attitudes made the difference.
  • The un-confessed sin and disbelief has power over you.
  • One of them was set free because of repentance and confession.
  • We are sinners but God can set us free if we confess our sins.
  • This is how God takes away the curse of sickness and crisis in our life.
  • Are you ready to believe?
