Introduction

Surely every person desires to possess inner peace and security. There are many factors in life that may rob us of such peace. Sickness is one of these factors. It is difficult to maintain inner peace when one is plagued by serious illness. The mind is filled with uncertainty and despair. [Taken from “Ministry Principals and Church Planting – Module II” by Gerald Rowlands]

Here is a story of such a person. She had been sick for twelve years. Though she had visited many doctors, none had been able to help her. In fact, she even became worse.

Then one glorious day, she met Jesus Christ. Through this wonderful encounter, she was instantly healed of her long-standing sickness. She was also blessed with a deep sense of inner peace.

This same Jesus can also bless your life today. Let us look into this story and discover how she received her healing and how you too can be healed!

Read Mark 5:25-34

1. Why did she come to Christ?

(Read Mark 5:25; 5:26)

A. She had been constantly ill for 12 years. She had spent all her money. Now she was penniless!

B. She was disappointed and frustrated. She was tempted to despair. It seemed that none could help her.

C. How typical she is of so many today who are lonely, frustrated, insecure, disappointed, and helpless.

2. How did she come to Christ?

(Read Mark 5:27; 5:28; 5:29)

A. She heard what He had done for someone else. She determined that she too would seek His healing.

B. She encouraged herself in faith. She said within herself “If I can but touch the border of His garment I shall be healed.

C. Her sickness was the result of adultery. She definitely felt embarrassed to go to Jesus. But it could not hold back her faith.

3. How did she get her Salvation?

(Read Mark 5:30; 5:34; Romans 10:10)

A. The disciples couldn’t help her. They didn’t even know. There are times man can’t help us. Only God is able to meet our deepest needs.

B. Jesus already knew who had touched Him, but He wanted her public confession.

C. Christ addressed her as “Daughter”. He accepted her as a member of God’s family.

Conclusion

Jesus told her to “Go in peace”. From that moment she knew real peace. Uncertainty and anxiety were banished, and the peace of God filled her heart and mind. It was her faith that made her whole. God desires everyone to be whole. Perfectly sound in spirit, soul, and body. She went away as a transformed person. You too can be transformed if you come to Christ in faith.
