In my previous posts I introduced to you a couple of software Bibles. Today I want you to meet “The Word” – another marvelous software study Bible. You can install this in your PC and run and as well as follow a short procedure to make it portable so that you can carry it in your flash drive. Given below is a screen shot of the application (click to enlarge).
I am not going to write a full review on The Word, as I have not taken time to discover its full potential yet. However let me tell you about some of the features I found to be useful.
Verse copy function
As I blog sermons and other ministerial resources, I have to copy and paste Bible verses into my blog entries very often. Usually along with the copied verses comes the verse numbers as well, that I have to delete manually. However this new software has an enhanced copying function which lets me copy verses to the clipboard excluding the reference numbers.
It is using New English Translation or The Net Bible which is one of my favorite versions. This application also includes a Greek NT with Strong’s Numbers and Parsing info. Translations can be arranged side by side for comparison (Parallel Bible). The software also allows you to download and install the latest updates.
It is very important to keep all the installed software up to date. This ensures that you get all the latest facilities, security holes and bugs are fixed which gives you a better end user experience. The Word has a facility just to do that. However the drawback is you have download the entire new setup file and then reinstall.
