Introduction

This morning even as we celebrate Easter, I want us to consider yet another famous passage in the bible. This passage is none other than John’s account of Jesus’ appearance to Thomas. In today’s sermon, I want to share my observations on the passage and its implications.

 Introduction

It was just before dawn when the women arrived at the tomb of Jesus. The Scriptures say that they were bringing spices to anoint the dead body of Jesus. Exactly how they expected to do this is anybody’s guess. The stone would prevent their entrance. When they arrived they found the stone rolled away, the tomb empty and two supernatural beings guarding the tomb.

Easter Sermon Notes: Why does Easter Matter?

Introduction

Today is Easter Sunday and I want to emphasize the importance of the resurrection of Christ to our Christian Faith. Let me open with a story. One night a drunkard man broke into a house. Right before leaving the house with a suitcase full of cash and valuables he set the house on fire to cover his tracks. When he went home however he found out that his own house is on fire. To his amazement he had in fact, burgled and ignited his own house. Later on, he said, “I had no idea I had so many valuable possessions.”
