A close-up shot of a Rainbow Flag Pin

The US Supreme Court’s decision to legalize gay marriage nationwide on June 26th, 2016 triggered mixed responses from Christian Communities not only across the country but the global church. When I read the various responses on the web the thought that crossed my mind was, “What will I do if this happened in my country, Sri Lanka?” I prayed about and the Holy Spirit implanted five thoughts in my heart. I want to share those thoughts with you today. (All scripture is from the Amplified Bible [AMP])

Practical Reasons for Tithing

Bicycle chain forming one and zero.

Last year in this blog I discussed the theological aspects of tithing (read them here and here if you missed them). As those discussions went viral a small number of visitors expressed their feedback in favor of the practice while others charged me with falsehood.  Nevertheless, the truth must be taught and defended at all costs. So here I am opening the can of worms again. By the way, this article is intended for those who are in favor of tithing. If you are not in favor please leave without flooding my comment section with foolish arguments.

What does it mean to forgive and be forgiven?

Multicolored letters on Gray Background

Forgiveness can be called one of the most misinterpreted, misunderstood, and malpractice virtues in Christianity. Usually, forgiveness involves two main individuals or even parties. The offendee and the offender. What does forgiveness mean to the offendee? What does being forgiven mean to the offender? We hope you will find this blog post useful in your personal life as well as in ministry.

I am writing this blog post in response to an email I received from Daniel Craig (not his real name) two days later I published my sermon on tithing. Daniel in his email made a sincere request that I take time to answer a couple of questions he has on tithing. Daniel, I am impressed by your desire to learn and do what is right. Below you will find answers to all of your questions.

There are many false teachings sweeping the church today. Although not exactly a false teaching people often seem to misquote certain verses in the Bible to defend or justify unethical or illegal behavior. The number of references misinterpreted this way is countless but the five verses given below are my top picks known as being the most misquoted verses (I have provided the correct interpretation and the context for each verse mentioned below). Feel free to share this blog post for the edification of the body. Feel free to check my post titled “20 Bibles verses to help You through Tough Times” also.

On July 25th, 1911 Bobby Leach suffered two broken knee caps and a fractured jaw when he went over the Niagara Falls in a Barrel. However, it’s not the injuries sustained from going over Niagara Falls that killed him. In the year 1926 Leach injured his leg when he slipped on an orange peel. The leg became infected, and eventually, gangrene necessitated the amputation of the leg. Leach died of complications two months later.

Previously I emphasized the ethical and legal issues linked with the usage of pirated software. Today I want to address another aspect of the problem. Although all of us fear the legal repercussions of software piracy, the majority of us don’t bother about the spiritual repercussions. In this episode, I want to mention a few. You may choose to agree with me or disagree. Nevertheless, the word of God is relevant to all times. When God says something is wrong it is always wrong and when he says something is right it is always right.

When the Computer became a standard Electronic Equipment in business, home, and even Church, software piracy and using pirated software also became a widespread issue either because the consumer couldn’t afford legitimate software or didn’t want to spend on software as much as he spends on hardware. Although we don’t address the sin of using pirated software from the pulpit, it’s a widespread issue in the Christian community also. Keep on reading to find out why and how to deal with it.
