This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series Sermon Series: How to discern God’s will?

Introduction

More than a year has passed since my last sermon. It was also 26 months ago I published Part 1 of this 2 Part Sermon Series. In that, I shared four questions to ask when you feel confused and unable to discern God’s will when making an important decision. Today we will consider the last four questions.

Sermon notes: The necessity for Faith and Works in the Salvation of Man

Sermon notes: The necessity for faith and works in the salvation of Man

Introduction

I have been preaching God’s word for the past 20 years. However, I believe the sermon you are going to hear from me today is the most important sermon I will preach ever. I tell you so because it concerns the eternal salvation of our precious soul. It’s based on a question many Christians seem to struggle with. Is faith alone sufficient to be saved or should faith be accompanied by works?

Sermon notes: Daniel in the Den of Lions

A statue of a Lion.

Introduction

In today’s sermon, I want to consider yet another famous passage in the Bible. It is none other than the 6th chapter of the Book of Daniel or better known as the chapter in which he was thrown into the Den of Lions. This passage has five important Christian principles for us tonight.

Sermon Notes: Doubts and how to eliminate Them?

Introduction

The name Charles Bradley Templeton (1915-2001) might not ring a bell to some of us but all of us are familiar with the International Christian Movement known as “Youth for Christ.” Templeton was its co-founder. According to The Christian Post–in the year 1957,  after a struggle with doubts, Templeton rejected Christianity and became an atheist.

Sermon: Three things a Disciple of Christ must Renounce

A person holding letters no.

Introduction

Christians love Chris Gayle for he talks about God, both in the field and at home. Unfortunately, however, he leads a questionable lifestyle that doesn’t fit the Bible-believing Christians. Then there’s Tatenda Taibu, the Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batsman, who gave up Cricket, to work for the church. Taibu played 28 Tests and 150 ODIs for Zimbabwe and has quit aged only 29, usually a cricketer’s prime.

Introduction

History speaks of a Bishop, who is said to have proclaimed that heavier-than-air human flight wasn’t possible because it contradicted God’s will. His name was Milton Wright and he was the father of Orville and Wilbur Wright. Apparently, his understanding of God’s will was seriously flawed!

Sermon: A Samaritan Woman’s Encounter with Jesus

Women carrying water in their head near a well.

Introduction

Many years ago a young man who sought supernatural intervention for his problems, walked into a Hindu Temple, hoping to receive the favor of the gods that the temple was dedicated for. While he was there he heard an audible voice, which said: “You have come to the wrong place.” He realized this is indeed the Lord Jesus speaking to him. Talk about an encounter! He immediately left that temple and a few days later joined a church in his neighborhood. Long story short, he dedicated his life to service to God and led many people to Christ.

Sermon: Great Lessons from Mary and Martha

Two women wearing denim jackets and carrying backpacks starring at a yellow color wall.

Introduction

Edwin Bliss once said, “The pursuit of excellence is gratifying and healthy. The pursuit of perfection is frustrating, neurotic, and a terrible waste of time.” Interestingly Jesus taught the same principle 2ooo years ago when he visited Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42. These sisters from A.D 30 are the basis for my sermon today. They have three important lessons for you and me living in the 21st century.
