Sermon: Leadership Lessons from Paul’s Shipwreck

Old Sailor Ship being tossed by the storm in the rough ocean.

Introduction

The Christian life is not a cakewalk. Definitely not when you are in charge of something. Spiritual, emotional, and even physical storms and shipwrecks are inevitable in Christian leadership. Consider the life, ministry, and death of the great leader Paul. He was sought after to kill, shipwrecked, and finally got executed! In today’s sermon, I am going to share some of the leadership qualities that Paul expressed when he got shipwrecked. So as leaders we shall know how to handle our own storms and shipwrecks in ministry.

Sermon: Halloween Unmasked

Introduction

In recent years Halloween has grown in popularity.  It has now become the second-largest money-producing holiday, second only to Christmas.  Don’t conclude that the reason for this is commercialism.  It is far deeper than that. It is the result of man’s search for the supernatural.

Christianity has been discarded as irrelevant and unbelievable, yet man is still searching for something beyond himself.  The occult seeks to fill that vacuum.  This is not intended to be a tirade against children having fun. You must decide what your children do or do not do.  However, before you decide you need to know all the facts.

Sermon: The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard

Introduction

Grace is the central theme of this parable. In it, we meet a group of workers whose master wasn’t very happy (in Matthew 20:13 “friend” is used ironically) because they failed to identify the grace he expressed unto them. Likewise today there are Christians in the church who don’t walk in the grace of God. Needless to say, such behavior doesn’t impress God at all. In this parable, I recognized three reasons why we fail to walk in God’s grace and how to overcome them.

Sermon: The International Workers’ Day

A photo of a man of the Working Class on the International Workers' Day.

Introduction

Today is International Workers’ Day and I want to talk about our blue-collared brothers and sisters in Christ also known as the working class. The dictionary defines people of the working class as “Those employed in lower tier jobs (as measured by skill, education and lower incomes), often extending to those in unemployment or otherwise possessing below-average incomes.” There’s no such group as “The Working Class” in the Bible. Nevertheless, we find many who fit the above definition. Today even as we celebrate International Workers’ Day let’s find what God is telling the working class through his written word. The Bible shows three ways God cares for the people of the working class.

Sermon: How to be an instrument of revival?

Grayscale photo of people raising hands in worship to God.

Introduction

I concluded my last sermon by saying revival starts with you and me.  If you don’t believe my words read the book of Jonah and you will see that God indeed used an ordinary human being to bring the extremely sinful Ninevites to repent that in turn lead to a spiritual revival in the capital of Assyria. His name was Jonah and he was God’s instrument of revival in Nineveh. Today in the order of Jonah I want to share how you could become an instrument of revival in God’s hands.

Sermon: How to get ready for revival?

Introduction

Dr. G. Campbell Morgan once said, “Revival cannot be organized, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again.” Unfortunately “Organizing revivals” is exactly what we are doing today. This sermon is about setting the sails of our churches to catch the wind from heaven so that we will be ready to sail when God chooses to blow upon us. [Image by: Stuck in Customs]
